Update Regarding COVID-19 Safety Recommendations
Published May 26, 2022
Dear Shipbuilders,
As we head into the Memorial Day weekend, our region is seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases. Positive cases among NNS employees have more than doubled in the last two weeks, and we expect this to increase even more after the holiday.
While hospitalizations have decreased, people are continuing to get sick. To help minimize illness and prevent a surge in positive cases at NNS, the following precautionary measures will be effective beginning Tuesday, May 31:
- Employees working in an area where social distancing isn’t possible should consider wearing a mask, regardless of vaccination status.
- In-person social gatherings will be restricted to outdoor events where social distancing can be accomplished. This includes holiday socials, ERG events, retirements and team recognition events.
- For meetings where social distancing cannot be achieved, WebEx is strongly encouraged instead of in-person meetings. In cases when in-person, indoor meetings are required, masks are recommended for all participants, including presenters.
We appreciate your continued patience as we remain focused on keeping our shipbuilders and their families safe. As always, please keep in mind that this guidance will continue to evolve and align with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and COVID-19 conditions at NNS and in our community.
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
Respectfully,
NNS Crisis Action Group
