Updates for NNS’ COVID-19 Council
Published January 25, 2023
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Hampton Roads region has experienced an increase in COVID-19, Influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) cases.
Fortunately, we are not seeing a significant number of COVID-19 cases at Newport News Shipbuilding, and masking will not be required at this time. However, shipbuilders are welcome to wear masks as a precautionary measure. Providing a WebEx option when coordinating meetings is also encouraged to help prevent the spread of these illnesses. Employees who work offsite, will be required to follow the guidance provided by the work location.
As a reminder, employees who experience symptoms of these viruses, which are similar and include headaches, fever and fatigue, must not come to work. Shipbuilders are also encouraged to keep vaccinations up to date, maintain social distance when possible and continue basic hygiene practices such as handwashing.
The health and safety of our employees and their families is a top priority. The COVID-19 Council will continue to monitor potential impacts on NNS and the community and make adjustments if necessary. Click here for more information.
