Members of Newport News Shipbuilding’s Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG) and their families, the local American Legion Post 25 and other organizations teamed up to place American flags on the tombstones of veterans at Peninsula Memorial Park for Memorial Day.

The flags show that we remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of freedom. Thank you to the volunteers who came out to help place 2,500 flags.
