Virginia-class submarines were recently recognized as a winner in the 2025 Virginia Manufacturing Cup, the statewide competition to find “the coolest thing made in Virginia.”
The annual contest celebrates innovation, craftsmanship and products manufactured in the commonwealth. Virginia-class submarines – built by Newport News Shipbuilding and General Dynamics Electric Boat – won gold in the transportation equipment category.
“The Virginia Manufacturing Cup serves as a powerful way to engage communities, manufacturing teams, and industry allies in supporting Virginia’s manufacturing sector,” said Brett Vassey, president and CEO of the Virginia Manufacturers Association. “The competition spotlights regional innovation and fosters pride in the companies that drive economic growth and create jobs across the Commonwealth.”
