“I had no idea I would go on to work for Newport News Shipbuilding – the company that sponsored my home through Habitat for Humanity. My background and passion are in workforce development. To see people go from maybe not having a job, to changing their whole socioeconomic status while getting quality education – that does it for me. My dad was a shipbuilder for almost 40 years, but I had never heard of The Apprentice School. Now I’m in a position where I can advocate in our community and support an organization that trains individuals to build great ships and submarines for the Navy. It feels like my calling.”
