“I did law enforcement for 17 years and spent the last five as a K-9 officer in a state prison. It was a lot of fun, but I wanted to be in the shipyard even before starting law enforcement. Someone let me know about a job fair, so I went and watched all of the videos they presented at the event. I plan on making a career here. I don’t want to leave the shipyard. Blasting is critical to the units because it keeps the metal in good shape. If the metal is not in good shape, then paint will just bubble and peel later on. I believe it’s one of the most important stages for any unit.”
The series features shipbuilders’ photos and their brief statements. If you or another shipbuilder you know is interested in being highlighted, email [email protected].
