The safety and well-being of all Newport News shipbuilders is our priority. With that in mind, please review next week’s weather forecast and hot weather safety tips below. We are sharing this information to help you plan for the upcoming week.
Visit the Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) homepage on MyNNS to check daily flag conditions, which are posted on the right side of the page. Red flag conditions indicate a heat index between 91 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Black flag conditions indicate a heat index of 105 degrees or higher.
Expect heat indices in the high 80s to mid-90s.
This Week’s Heat Illness Prevention Tips:
- Cool down when possible by going to a cooler area or using cooling towels, fans, water or ice.
- Know the symptoms of heat stroke, which include confusion or disorientation; loss of consciousness; red, hot and dry skin; an abnormally high body temperature (above 103 degrees); a throbbing headache; a lack of sweating; and nausea or vomiting.
